About Preinfuse

An independent reference for people trying to buy espresso equipment without becoming an expert in espresso equipment first.

What this is

Preinfuse helps people make better decisions about home espresso equipment by organising manufacturer specifications, comparing the differences that actually matter, and matching machines and grinders to real budgets and real workflows.

The espresso market is unusually hostile to newcomers. The vocabulary is dense — thermoblock, heat exchanger, PID, 54mm, pressurised baskets — and almost none of it is explained in terms of what it changes for the person drinking the coffee. Meanwhile most comparison tools belong to retailers, and can only compare what that retailer stocks.

Preinfuse stocks nothing. That is the entire structural advantage, and we intend to keep it.

The idea the site is built around

Espresso is a two-product purchase. Machine and grinder, working together, with a few accessories that genuinely matter. Almost every buyer treats it as a one-product purchase and funds the grinder with what is left over.

Correcting that allocation is the most useful thing we can do, it costs nothing to say, and nobody else frames the decision this way. It is why the setup builder asks for a total budget rather than a machine budget, and why grinders get the same billing as machines on every page here.

What we are not

Not a shop. Not a roaster. Not a testing laboratory. Not a coffee blog.

We do not physically test equipment and we never imply that we do. Everything we publish comes from manufacturer documentation, transformed by work that is genuinely ours: normalisation into one vocabulary, structured comparison, derived analysis, and decision frameworks with the rules published. If you want to know exactly how far that goes, the methodology says so in detail.

Who runs it

Preinfuse is an independent project, not a company. There is no editorial staff, no testing facility and no panel of experts — inventing any of those would be the first thing to distrust about a new site.

What there is: a structured product database with a source recorded against every specification, a rating system whose rules are published, and a recommendation engine you can read.

How it makes money

Eventually, through commission on retailer links. No affiliate programme is active at the time of writing and no link on this site currently carries a tracking parameter. When that changes it will be disclosed plainly and at the point of use.

The engine that produces recommendations has no access to commercial data. It scores products on specifications and budget, and nothing else.
